I am totally convinced the value of the Yen is the reason Honda sold me an Accord in 2012, 100% financing, 0.9% interest for 60 months and at over 20% discount off sticker price.
The Accord was better equipped than an equivalent Hyundai, for less money. Korea ain't planning on moving their money value.
They did not want my US$ today, they want them when the Yen plummets. Think about it, if the Yen falls 50%, they will in fact get $30,000 for a $20,000 car, in Yen, of course.
That said, I ordered a 18-200 VR with 2 free filters for under $600 delivered. At 34% discount, I figured Nikon was taking most of the exchange rate movement risk.
If the exchange rate moves further than that, I will pick up the 24-70mm f2.8 when it hits a price of $900.

Honda Accord is mostly a North American car, which means most costs are incurred here in dollars. at 20% off sticker, along with 0.9% APR and no money down, there were only two possibilities, either sticker price was artificially set too fat in the first place, or taxpayers (aka governments) partially paid the price.

No. The Accord has final ass'y in the US, which is a very small part of the cost/profit content. The vast majority is Japanese and Asian sourced components. Engine, transmission, axles, electronics, etc., etc.

Exactly. They invest a Japanese produced (except for body and final assembly) car in me today for Honda's cost of 1X-yen. I pay them back in the future with my money equal to 2X-Yen. What a great deal for Honda.
Rather than getting a low number of Yen today, they get far greater number of Yen tomorrow.
Don't we all wish we could make 50-100% return on our investment over a couple years.
This could be great for the US consumer, although not so good for US workers. The Nikon lens I just purchased has no effect either way as the US has not produced a lens for a "few" years.
All these countrys' that are in financial woes should do this. Give us products and services for a fraction of the current exchange rate.
China has been doing it for years, now they wish to stop. OOPs! It is hurting the Chinese economy. Sorry.

I read 80% Honda Accord components are from the US suppliers, unless those are the Japanese suppliers in disguise, if your claim is true.
"Both Camry and Accord are made with 80% of their parts coming from the USA. And most are assembled in the U.S. Camrys are made in Georgetown, Ky., and Lafayette, Ind."
