I went out today to try to find something that looked like what the air feels like, which is starting to be wintery. At least the sky cooperated.
Good looking sky scene, Jess. What is that structure ? An alien spaceship landing port ?
My first time in this thread; great shots everyone, no way in hell I can top that.
I've spent my New Year in Stockholm (with a bit of Helsinki along the way, in between the train & ferryboat). Still sorting the photos (have only just got to rotating them all into proper orientation). Here's a quick one: http://cs316122.userapi.com/v316122358/8393/_YC4pRgW1b0.jpg
Stockholm, Sergels Torg.
Sigma 14mm f/2.8
I may have to look for a few winter photos from previous seasons, before my (limited) skill got all rusty altogether, and before I pretty much decided to hang my camera on the wall as I did this year.
And a few more wintry shots from Feb. 2011 http://cs316122.userapi.com/v316122358/8eb6/b_k16F1VKI0.jpg
This city is particularly well known for poor snow disposal. http://cs316122.userapi.com/v316122358/8edb/AtoEPD1P5m8.jpg
Strange "snow-snakes" on tree branches. http://cs316122.userapi.com/v316122358/8f07/XoP08uVURh8.jpg
Oranienbaum, another of the "palace-suburbs" of the city. While browsing these photos I found that my Sigma 14mm f/2.8 is never sharp to the corner of APS-H frame even at f/8 or f/9 - the above f/8 shot still shows mush in the corners about 500 px away. Rats. It's sharp across most of the frame (though maybe not as sharp as the 16-35), and then becomes pretty lame very far out in the frame. Probably not unlike the first iteration of the Canon 14L.
Ilya Snopchenko, thanks for showing me places far from where I've ever been. Some very interesting stuff!
Peter, I was on the roof of a parking deck. The "alien" structure is just the entrance to a stair well. Here are some other things I saw from there (downtown Raleigh, such as it is).
The 24 mm shots were done with the TS-E II, the longer focal lengths with the 70-200/2.8 L IS II.
