Oh, Canon-bound, oh Canon-bound, let us see what you are shooting with your Canon gear this winter.
I am temporarily house-bound by illness, but I'll start things off with a rare winter blooming flower that I spotted in my yard. Rhodorodentia arsistica, common name eludes me at the moment.
Obviously I needed a laugh, but if you contribute photos that are actually good, unlike mine, and show the characteristics of winter (whatever those may be in your clime), we should get a good collection going. Current photos of the most interest, but particularly for those in the Southern Hemisphere, shots from last winter are more than welcome. I hardly need add that we want to showcase Canon equipment, so include exif and/or tell us the noteworthy parts of your gear choices. My "flower" was shot with a 300/2.8 MkII and 2x Mk III. The AF responsiveness of the combo continues to impress me.
I wondered if someone would decide that Peter was delaying this a bit too long.
Bad luck on being housebound. I'm also stuck with pretty limited mobility whilst i wait for another op on my back. It will be archive shots from me again too...
Jess and 15Bit I hope you feel better soon.
Jess, thank you for starting the Canon winter photography thread with a nice winter flower.
I haven't done any serious shooting for weeks now, the weather and light have been positively-wretchedly poor, wet and overcast. Therefore, I also must reach into my archives for a wintery looking image I shot a few years back.

I remember when you first posted a version of this in the People forum, 1932 I think it was? Your post processing skills have improved since then. Clearly we can get much more shadow detail out of raw files even of that era, using the latest versions of processing software. However, I must say there was something about the original vertical composition that I preferred...

Peter, that shot will never be acceptable! Grainy, out of focus, ROT's not fulfilled. You just might as well taken a snapshot from out on the street. Practice!
John_T, thanks for getting us back on track with some substance. Lovely vista of snowcapped peaks, even if you're not surrounded by snow right where you are.
Nothing fancy from me, but I would like to show a shot I took on Christmas Eve.
This year we decided to abandon the stressfull city life, and celebrate Christmas at our mountain cabin. Some ten degrees below centigrade, and windy, but oh so nice and quiet!
