Another wonderful set Peter...bravo...really like the 2nd shot with spiky feathers. And, what's truly amazing is your hand-holding those massive gears with a T/C added, a testament to you skills with those big guns.
Most excellent shootings
A first outing with the new 6D last weekend. I've got some work to do with familiarizing myself with this little guy but I do like it! All with the 100-400L except the hot chocolate which was with my 28 2.8 non IS.
Here is one duck which hangs around in winter as well as summer........our common Mallard.
However, shooting those ducks in flight is not a trivial task either, especially if one looks at good size pictures, as opposed to those web miniatures where bird images may pass for sharp that really aint so.
Thanks, Peter; the little fellow kept several dozen of us spellbound for a half-hour with his bashful antics - too cute...
At Audubon Zoo in New Orleans a couple of weeks ago...

Thanks, verbiage...
Gearily speaking, I shot in Av, adding 1 stop of EC to try and counter the dark shadows under the paper bag; that blew out the background and sky, but I brought back good color in LR4...I used a little selection brush to lighten the hair and facial expression a bit more. I loved using the 300 2.8 in the zoo - nice, crisp hair and feather detail everywhere - but it attracted too much attention. The good side of attention is that folks would often get out of the way; the bad side is "How far away can you zoom with that?"
Here's another expressive face, this one on the opposite end of the spectrum...
also with 300 f/2.8 IS I...

I'm really enjoying all the winter shots. I love winter. Unfortunately, we haven't had as much as usual this year. A few humble entries...I look for abstracts and color in the ice. The third one is the hollow of a huge ice waterfall. Whenever I see these, I'm stunned that I'm in Illinois (Starved Rock State Park).
All shot with 350D and 17-55 f/2.8 IS (4th shot with 70-200 f/4 non IS).
