Thank you photon, they actually got in and slid down the other side of the bridge for fun before dragging them into the river, was too far away with the wrong lens to get a shot of it though
The Blizzard of 13' has started in CT...we are looking at +2 feet incoming overnight. That should make for some good photo ops. I've even got the Linhof 4x5 loaded up (12 sheet-film holders filled) and the EOS-3 with TMax 100.
Edd, I'm sure YOU'RE prepared, and I have to say, I wish we had some of your snow here...
Instead, I made this one today, just as your chickadees were watching the limbs filling up....
...with 85L II.
Jerry
Edd, I hope you can take advantage of the snow without suffering from the storm.
My area is in pretty much the same situation as Jerry's. Today I also shot some flowers, but they were indoors. I'll show a few here, too. Why not - I shot them with a 5D II and 70-200/4 L IS, and the calendar insists it's winter.
Adding a little cheer to the house on a frigid (not!) winter day
We have power back, off of the gens (hopefully) for the present. Here are a few from this morning...still snowing and blowing. I have between 2-1/2 to 4 feet of snow here, more than 6 feet in drifts. Very tough moving through the woodlands, so I'm going to stay within a 1/2 mile radius or so for now. All photos with 5DMkII and 24-105L
Jerry: You can have 95% of my snow, okay?
Jess: I am being careful, as the trees are still stressed-out from Sandy & Irene. We did lose two, from "topping" last night. The peak gust here was 64MPH, and we had 38-42MPH steady for 7 minutes, with snow-filled trees (hemlocks that turned into snow-mops).
Peter: You should have had a taste of this storm by now...stay safe & warm too!
Edd -- Nice shots, especially the blur of the wings and the feeder.
Jess -- Well, hey, it's your thread! Ha-ha! These are some great colors and arrangements of the tulips.
Well, now, lookee what we have here. . . actual frost in Southern California, and not in the mountains. My condolences to the East Coast blizzard people. We had a rainy sprinkle last night, then clearing skies overnight = frost on all the uncovered outdoor surfaces. (No snowmen, sorry.)
Wow Jim, that's really cool frost. I don't think I've ever seen that on cars.
Bob, looks like you're going through your reserves a bit too quickly if you're snowed-in!
Went out for a walk in the woods during the storm yesterday. Kit was 1DX with 70-200/4 IS and my Leica M9 gears (those pix are posted here).
Great thing about IS is shooting at low shutter speeds in blowing snow to try for the streaking snow effect. Might have been a bit too slow of a shutter speed here, but I like the blowing snow effect at ground level: http://ronscheffler.com/samples/fm/20130208/20130208_0293.jpg
Also came across some deer, but couldn't get a good clean shot without branches in the way. Not that the world needs more deer photos (but here's one anyway).

If I see another long exposure waterfall shot...............I'll scream!
Sorry don't mean to offend, but this has been done so many times, i don't see anything "new" to enthral me.

Thanks eosfun. The good news is that being stuck at home is at least giving me opportunity to look at the fairly large backlog of pictures i need to sort and edit, which also gives me stuff to post up here.
So another high key. Not sure whether i prefer it in square format or rectangular. Opinions more than welcome. 350D / 70-200mm f/2.8 combo:
Hi 15bit, sorry i could not get any "enjoyment from this picture". I don't know why its hard to explain. I couldn't make out its if its a fuzzy/blurry picture?
Please advise or correct me what i am "missing" from this picture.
I hope i don't offend you when i ask you this.
Rgds,
T.
I'm sorry something I enjoy so much causes you so much pain. Not sure if FM has a "hide post by user" (if they do, then hide me), but I'm not going to stop posting photos based on one person's distress.
Stellar first post BTW.

No cause to hide. Like both shots. Would have posed the waterfall a bit more to the left.
But thank you. Like timieboy I do not see anything new. But boys like to cry. I will do it for myself and may post it here, as soon I see a corresponding motive.

I think the "HIDE ME" function would be appropriate for timmieboy.
P.S. timmieboy, we're not here to enthrall you, sorry if that disappoints.
