I know this is an old comment I honestly didn't see it until yesterday day. here's a video of me editing a d800 file raising the exposure by 3 ev correcting highlights a bit and it's still 100% useful file. I even uploaded the file to flickr. it's in the description.
Not trying to start anything but Canon really needs to bump their dynamic range quite a bit. And I shoot with a canon still only bc of high ISO performance beats the crap out of the D800. Just for reference I know what I am talking about
Nothing special, just a couple of test shots of my newly acquired 6D with a 50 year old lens to bump this nice thread. The camera has really exceeded my expectations so far.
