Yes, it is. And at least I did today what I was thinking about the last couple of month and what "alarsen77" mentioned one page earlier in this thread. I went to my dealer and purchased a 40 2.8.
Canons outrunning cashback offer here in germany saves me 25%.
Now the next step will be to get the 6D at least.

I don't. From everything I hear its an outstanding little lens for the price. I have a Canon 35mm and a vintage Minolta Rokkor 50mm in Canon mount so I never really considered the 40mm focal length.
I would imagine that 40mm would be an awesome lens for shooting street photography in the city.

I've read good things about the 40mm, but as I have a 50mm, its a focal length that's just too close to my current 50/1.4. There is a good thread about the 40mm pancake on FM.
