But for some strange reason, it is considered perfectly OK to impose your "opinion" on things that are at the very core of individual rights upon others in the form of law, once you are in a majority position. That doesn't just include taking away someone's right to effectively defend himself against threats (something that the state does not and cannot guarantee it will do for you in return for giving up that individual right), it also includes arbitrary subsidization of things that in the "opinion" of some people are important enough to use other people's money for.

I have to admit that I am not sure what you are referring to, or even if it is aimed at me or someone else, but since this is all a bit volatile, I will not answer beyond this.

To me, a statement that endorses the violation of fundamental rights of other people is offensive and thus does not qualify as a mere opinion, very much in the same way that an overtly racist comment wouldn't qualify as an "opinion" in my view. Thus the quotation marks, and thus the use of the word "imposing".
I know that we're most probably not going to to reach consensus on this.
