Found some stuff cleaning out an old laptop from when I found myself in Atlanta a few Octobers back ... Road Atlanta, BTW, is an awesome track. Great setting, great access, and PLM is a great race (long though).
Really wish Ford had put some factory backing behind the GT the way GM did with the Corvette:
Jefferson -- great shots! I particularly like 1 and 6. Where was 6 shot? What is the Ford powered LMP? And what happened to the class/position lights? I see a sticker with class, is the big LED the position indicator? (Obviously I don't follow this sport closely enough...)
#6 is just going under the bridge toward turn 12 then onto the short front straight and past the pits.
The Ford is a DP (Daytona Prototype) and is a Riley chassis with the Ford EcoBoost twin turbo V6. … they combined the LMPs with the DPs series and screwed it up. The GTLM cars are about the only class that remained unaffected.
Here’s a link to the Petit Le Mans full 10 hr. race. They explain the classes and other info.. Very good video … it’s the race FoxSports broadcast … 720p … no commercials …

Jefferson ...
Thanks for the link. The GT classes are still fine, I think, but the prototypes ... ugh. Used to be the innovative, high-tech series... oh well, that Delta wing was cool. Would there even be a place for the R18s and 919s and TS040s?
Your photos are way better than mine but I think I like my subjects better
Just a short quetion about thing which cought my eye on it.
Do I understand correctly that there are grey traces from removing chromatic aberration on the car hood and especially arount the headlight?.. firingsquad wrote: https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5571/14760119266_d35c574d00_h.jpg

probably. I have to deal with that issue when using some older lenses. There are ways to fix these problems for the most part (not 100% as there will even be some purple in the reds you want to keep) if you spend a little extra time in post, but it is rather tedious.
you essentially need to process the image twice, once with CA removed and once without, then go in and clone back the color where the CA removal process ate into what you really need to keep. Maybe there's a faster way, but the regular CA removal process does not know what is actually an aberration and what is a red pinstripe on a white car for example.
There is no place for technology in the TUDOR series. They just put out those 1970's Trans-Am cars with shit body work and call them a DP. There is no place for P1 in the US. The R18 and Toyota would just destroy a DP car, by many seconds a lap. Many of the GTD teams are jumping ship to the Pirelli World Challenge next year. Hopefully it will make it thru the next couple of years until the ACO finalizes a world wide prototype. Then the DP's can go vintage racing or be parked in museums as exhibits of Flintstone technology that they are.

Yeah, exactly - sometimes LR automatic removal can do nothing with bad CA. In this I try to remove them (or better say - hide them) using Selective Colors tool in PS. Maybe there are a better choices, but for me it is a good way to make them not so obvious and hide them.

They (DPs) can make for some interesting racing, but then again ... so can go-karts ...
Maybe they should have just the GTLM cars in a stand alone series ... the best class IMO ...
No HSR this year, just the Mitty.
I went to the new TransAm race this year (Spring) at Road Atlanta ... it was a support race for the Drift series. The infield roads were coned off at Vendors' Village and without a mile or so walk ... (I didn't even ask if I could hike) ... you could not get to turn 6 & 7 area... couldn't even get to the esses at turn 5 ...
I shot for an hour in the morning around the bridge area ...then went home.
I have no interest in Drifting ...
Next thing you know, they'll fence Road Atlanta in like they did Barber in Ala..
... Makes me want to take up Landscape and Flower photography ...
