Hi Joe, thanks, actually, the lens is a Nikon Nikkor 85mm f/1.8 HC on a D700, the lens featured in this blog: http://aroundtheworldwithanikonlens.blogspot.com/p/about-us.html

The "dull" car is the one that was being repaired, a white 2005 Ford Crown Victoria

And the Packards are at the Packard Museum downtown and I need to go back and revisit it again.

That's some wicked Bokeh on those shots! They have an odd "convergence" look to them as if the oof areas are meeting towards the top of the shot.

I know that your are saying but your eye don't move through the image as well if you darken the hub cap.
