My wallet hates all of you who have posted to this tread. I jumped on a LN condition VRI version from KEH. I foresee a lot of Christmas tree shots with creamy smooth backgrounds.

I've just recently picked up the TC-20E III to pair with my Chubby VR1. Having seen how much other lenses lose with TCS, I've been amazed by the fact the Chubby seems to lose almost nothing when paired with a TC.

You do lose IQ with a 2x TC wide open, especially when compared to my 200-400/4 shot at 400mm f/4.

I had a play last week with the 105/1.4E on my D800 and can confirm that the lens is not as sharp @f/1.4 as my 200/2 at f/2. There is also a fair amount of CA wide open on the 105/1.4, unlike on the 200/2 wide open. Otherwise, this new 105/1.4E is one of Nikon very impressive optics.
