While Lisa Holloway is definitely a top tier photographer I prefer Elena Shumilova's style of photography. I don't believe I have saw anything she has shot though over a 135mm focal length.

Thanks for the photographer suggestion, I was looking for some options to follow. Her composition is similar to Lisa Holloway but the style is decidedly different, good stuff.

How can you do that when the chub has an insane hefty price tag of 5.7k?
By that time, she became very good at what she does and had plenty of clients pay her in order for her to even afford that chub.
I want to pull off similar (non wedding) shots like she does; nature creamy and bokehlicious stuff with kids & people.
I'll probably definitely fail but eventually I want to get there
Ughh......Ohhh.....coughing discreetly with a wretched smile
You do understand that the camera and lens and photographer are helped with artificial lighs placed behind the subject and modifiers in front......you do appreciate that there is a lot of selective blurring using channel and luminosity masking.....and you do notice the white balance pushed to 6000 and 6500 and of course the post processing with or without filters.

The chubby might create magic but is no magician
If you are talking about Lisa, as far as I know, almost all her pictures are natural light only, and she doesn't do much selective blurring, if any. So, yes, the chubby (Canon) does indeed help her a lot in the looks/rendering she gets in many of her shots. That said, her Photoshop skills are simply amazing.. And those Photoshop skills contribute a lot to her pictures, possibly more than her photographic skills, IMHO.

+1. There was a very long/controversial thread about this particular point with regards to Lisa's work (one here and another one on another forum). She was nice enough to participate in the thread and provide insight into her technique. However, even though she emphasized the fact that she doesn't do selective blurring or use artificial lighting, some members on that forum were quite obnoxious sometimes and adamantly challenged that.
She has excellent understanding of light and post processing skills, and of course the equipment helps as well.

Get one of her tutorials, well worth the price. She puts them on sale via her Facebook page quite often. I think there may be a St Patricks Day price going on right now.

Some people just have dough and time man. It can be done.
I don't have anything real recent I'm proud of with chubby, but here's some tuning snapshots while dialing it into a 'new' D4 - one of the more difficult lenses to fine tune I've found, but absolutely necessary to get it right
