Am thinking of selling my 200 f/2 VR 1 so I can get the new 19mm tilt/shift or the new 105 1.4. I'm much more happy with smaller lenses of shorter focal lengths. Then I come here and see images, read posts and question myself. Such a great lens.
Shot my first event with the 200/f2 VRI version. I think I'm really going to like this lens. I was expecting a bit faster focus, but perhaps that's because I am comparing it to my 300 f/2.8 VR2 lens. One thing is for sure, with a DOF this thin I'm going to have to majorly step up my game wrt focus point tracking control. I need to be much more precise than with the 300/2.8 or 70-200 f/2.8. With the others I could use more points or group, but so far I found using single point gives the most control, but my keeper rate is lower. Hopefully it will go back up with more use. Love what this lens does to the ugly indoor background, and can't wait to try it out on a dressage event.
