I've been using a Kinesis L511 for years. 500 f4 with 1DMark IV attached no problem at all.....great fit and great bag...

Jerry, several years ago, Kinesis carried a holster type bag for a pro size camera and 400 f/5.6......in fact, that was the only product of the kind I could find at the time (because of the 400 f/5.6 length), and I am still using it.

However, today I do not see that bag on the Kinesis website. In the meanwhile, Think Tank have come up with their long "Digital holster" which might do the trick for you, i.e., gripped 7D + 400 f/5.6. I believe Think Tank products are really well made, just that I do not have any info from

Thanks Peter, I put the 7D in the list as I see the "Mark II" version, if/when it comes out being my next crop body. It's a long ways off, but by then my health should be back on track and I'm thinking of shooting more action; surfing in particular. My 40D is fine for now; the higher ISOs and FPS of the 7D would be sweet tho Chatted with the CanonLolaltyProgram yesterday and can trade in my old broken A95 for a referbed 7D at an obscenely low price, the 60D was incredibly low, heck even the 5D2 was $700 less than the 6D's current $2100.

Unless it's total crap, not likely given the early stills/reviews, the 6D in spring will get my buckaroos and I'll be having me some FF eosfun! I'll check out the Think Tank holster, might work well for a cropper with 1.4x T/C and 300 f4L IS
Jerry

PS. Just looked at that holster bag, it looks great; the video of the fireman was cool/informative, the holster would hang easy from the arm rest of my wheelchair, great Idea Peter...thanks a ton, "think" I'll order one!

Jerry, perhaps you could start a topic asking people about that "Digital holster" in conjunction with Canon 400mm f/5.6 ? I guess some people must have it, just that I have never seen any user feedback on it, that's all......that's why I am suggesting caution.

Sounds like a good idea Peter! I'll write something up and post it.

There are days when I just go out with one lens, the 100mac and 70-200 most often with the 300 f4L on other days. The interesting thing is that in the description for that TT 50 holster they mention both the 70-200/300 with hood on/extended fit without trouble; fully retract or reverse the hoods and a 1.4x T/C could be added...the plot thickens

Many moons back, in my film days pre-wheels, I did one prime lens only shoots all the time, it's not as easy now but I should challenge my eye/skills more by doing so. The holster/sling type bag is a great idea, before I jump in a post is in order...any zippers must be easy open types, snaps n velcro are EVIL

Me too. It even fits with a 1.4x Extender + body. I sometimes use it with a set of replacement shoulder straps for a backpack, and it also fits with the LowePro S&F belt.
