How's everyone's RX1R III holding up to dust?
I recently rented one from LensRentals.com and taking an F22 shot into a uniform blue sky, I could definitely see one spot on the sensor.
I check my copy often, and so far so good with no visible dust.
However, I read on old forum posts about the microphone and speaker being potential ingress points for dust, so out of the box I taped shut both the top and bottom entry points. After a few days, I also taped shut the plastic left-hand side door that kept flapping open with no lock. The lens, especially the macro function that extends and retracts the lens, are other points so perhaps time will tell if dust is inevitable, but for now I'm in the clear and I certainly use it daily and normally without over protection besides avoiding rain. Lack of weather sealing continues to be my biggest disappointment.

Yes, cover the microphone and speakers if possible. The RX1R III should handle dust better than the RX1R II since it doesn't have a pop-up EVF, which was the main entry point for dust on that model. Still, some dust will eventually reach the sensor over time.

From a recent trip - I am torn or about keeping or selling this but love the images from this camera. The colors are somehow definitely better than your average Sony lens and great bokeh. Not a good pixel peeping camera though.

Hi, I have no idea if I'm doing this correctly, so this is a bit of an experiment. I read further back in the thread that people aren't posting much and most people don't post at all, so I'm giving it a go. I have the Sony RX1Rii. I had the RX1R, loved it, loved the image quality, but got frustrated by the lack of built in viewfinder, sold it. Bought the RX1Rii, loved it but sold it when i got lured by a brief flirtation with the Leica Q. Really don't like 28mm focal length (I already knew that, so why). Preferred the image quality from the RX1R series - I think the Q may have the same sensor, but maybe it combines differently with the Leica lens - anyway I found the Leica images more clinical. I just picked up a mint RX1Rii and am hanging onto it this time. This image is from the RX1R, but i will upload some more which are from the RX1Rii. I have the Fujifilm XT5 and lenses for stock photography, but the RX1Rii is the camera I carry pretty much all the time.
