Well I did get a few minutes to go take some pictures this morning before my wife started throwing the honey-do list at me. I'm liking it more and more. Once thing I'll mention: indoors and out never once did it hunt for focus. I'm not going to split hairs about speed because I didn't make any side-by-side comparison, but I never once thought it was slow. Rather zippy, actually.

BTW - if you notice the implements on the right side of the last photo, you'll see that one large knife is missing. My wife was getting serious about the "if you don't stop taking stupid pictures and help me get ready . . . "

If Lens Rentals is correct, watch for a massive price drop on the 35L used market in coming months...
Well that would be a first. In general Sigma's offerings hardly have to anything with Canon products and their pricing. I don't see a lot of 35L owners trade their lens for a Sigma. New buyers might be tempted and will have to make decisions where to put their money, but there is hardly a movement from Canon glass owners to Sigma glass in general.
Anyway, having alternatives and all these 35 mm decisions (third party glass, L or IS) they are all kind of EOSfun

Haven't been overly keen on some of Canon's recent lens design choices/prices, particularly as I don't consider IS is a good substitute for a fast aperture in a prime (thinking about the baffling 24mm and 28mm models). If this Sigma is the herald of a whole new range of top quality kit at competitive prices then I can see a lot of reasons to be happy.
Haven't owned a Sigma for a few years now, perhaps its time to start saving up for one! Will be watching Sigma with keen interest now. Bring on the full reviews and additional lens designs.
