Man... that's tough when we start getting that judgmental with art. It doesn't matter whether you agree with it, or even if you appreciate it or not, it's still an artistic expression. I understand we have to have our limits, but I just don't see that as being so extreme it crosses the limits for all of us.
Well, I'm really touched by all those manifestations of support.
Let one thing be clear : Fred Miranda is the manager of this place and as such, he can do whatever he feels is right for his organization. I don't know him personnaly but he seems like a good guy.
The only reason I leave is not the suppression of this image, but the fact that it was an unpredictable one. I see no rules here that would have allow me to know I wasn't authorized to depict such scenes. All I received as a justification for the suppression was the fact that FM has received " too many complaints ". So if FM is a place where liberty of expression is a function of how many people are shocked by a visual, we are back to the famous Picabia ( Mexican origin artist, surrealist ) imprecation : " bunch of fools, you only like what you know ".
To my European eyes it is an amazement to see the USA, land of the first amendment, living in fear of cultural shock and being led by those who want to protect themselves from it. The implications of the collapse of the towers are much more far-reaching than I ever thought they would be....

I imagine they would use this rule as justification

You are correct that the existence of the first amendment and our behavior with it are strangely inconsistent. What is "acceptable" only changes gradually over time as follows. People see or hear something that shocks them, some complain, there is a too strong reaction, it is repeated and the reaction is less strong, (repeat as needed for gradual acceptance).
Lisa Holloway recently left the site because she did not want her work in the People form mixed with posts of nude women. She is correct that this would hurt her reputation and her business in parts of the USA. It is an ongoing battle that is worth fighting. It would be best for us if you both stayed.
Sorry to hear you have been pushed into a difficult place.. it seems that all the interesting characters tend to go this route leaving mediocrity behind.

Don't open this can of worms....Lisa's narcissistic attitude did not like anyone saying anything that wasn't 100% gushing about her photography is the reason she left.....Great photographer but geez louise she was a handful

iSad.. I have joined Francois's site in an attempt to not only view excellent images, but also the thinking outside the box that is used to create that art. Indeed it appears to be another case of the small minds trying to make up for their shortcomings with big mouths!
It's interesting that the decision given to Francois was that it was based on the number of complaints about the image. Yet, if you think about it, there is no option to give a thumbs up to an image other than through our commentary here in the forum -- so there is no way to balance those who might complain about an image.
Is the direction of this forum going to be led exclusively by those who complain? Sure, this is Fred Miranda's forum and he can do with it what he wants, or what he deems best for the forum. He has gotten us this far. But I'd like to think that we, the people who are in here every day, would have some say in the direction of the forum.
Losing Francois, deleting the link to that image, is taking the forum in the wrong direction.
I wonder if Fred is monitoring this post - becasue I think he should....very important for the future of this Forum.
And yes, he can run it the way he sees fit but if I may provide a suggestion;
Why not create a sub-forum with a clear warning that this is for 18+ and contains nudity, possible violence, gore, drug use...whatever.... Move all the NSFW posts there and anyone that visits - cannot later complain of the images.
We shouldn't censor artistic expression simply becasue some find it offensive....again, like I said above, I wouldn't want any gallery or museum start taking art down becasue bunch of people find the art offensive.

your creativity and imagination within the photo was your present to my mind,, heck I was not a fan of everything you laid on the screen but I still looked to see what inspiration you placed into the photo,,
why some cannot see a ladies body as a beautiful piece of art in a photo is beyond me, again a real shame on those that are generating your position to move on,,
