Continuation of set from previous post...
Indoor shots. All 1.4. No fill flash. No sharpening. No Noise reduction. Auto WB.
I'm anxious to hear how the AF performance is. I had the Nikon 35 1.4, but its hunting in low light drove me nuts. Have you tried the Nikon version? Do you have any comparisons/comments on the low light AF acquisition speed? Thanks!

I have both and I don't have a problem focusing with either.
Neither are snappy as say the 70-200mm but both get the job done with a toddler in indoor light.

The Nikon 35's AF is a known issue. It doesn't even match the cheap 50's in AF performance. Unacceptable at its asking price, for people like me whose livelihood depends on getting the shot in dark environments. Will love to hear that the Sigma is better, as I just love this focal length.
Dear all,
I'll chime in with some *very* first impressions on the lens, as I received my copy this morning a 7:20.
Feel of the lens: amazing. Beautifully crafted, lovely finish, hefty, lots of metal. It looks more like a Zeiss for Alpha than a Nikon lens. Silent and quick autofocus, which seems spot on on my D4.
1.4 Performance: I did a simple shot focused near, and one far (then had to leave for work). Both focused properly and quickly, and the lens appeared to be very sharp in the centre.
I can't wait for the afternoon, where I'll test it more, and make some side-by-side shots with the Nikon 35 1.4G. Also, want to check focusing in the dark, not exactly a strong point of the 35 1.4G...
Only "downside" is that I do not know whether it's weather sealed, and... well, it's just too beautiful. I have rocked my 1.4G nikkors around, gave them a beating, and they still look ugly as always, but in perfect shape. I am afraid this jewel will not be so tough... too nice to spoil it!
Lenstip review is out and the Sigma impresss. The resolution numbers are of the chart. The sigma destroys the competion in the frame center. Edges look pretty good.

Sigma seem to be getting better and better the 85mm, 180mm and especially this lens all look to be excellent. It is great we now seem to have an alternative to putting up with nikon's huge lens prices assuming sigma's achilles heel, af quality control, does not trip them up.
Well, didn't have time to really test it.
But tried it on a D800E, and was amazed at the sharpness in the centre at f1.4...
The lens is very nice, and the focus seems to be much better in the dark than the Nikon 35 1.4G.
I love the Nikon, but focusing it is a hassle, while – at least for the moment – all the shots I have taken on the D4 of the Sigma show that it simply focuses reliably. And sharpness, again, even wide open, is really something to be seen.
Also, bokeh wise, the lens really shows its mettle: smooth, and beautiful.
In a word, this lens seem like a real, but real hit...
And my fiance (the owner of the 35 1.4G, which she shoots on her D3s) has taken a serious liking to my Sigma... a bold move, considering the 35G is her preferred lens.
Why do you think the Nikon version is delayed? Maybe it's not as simple as it seems to add a different mount. The Canon version has been out two weeks already as announced.

Who knows, probably because Canon mount is a larger and/or higher priority market. But mine in Nikon mount is in the hands of UPS and will arrive Monday, so I'm not going to sweat it.
