You'd think they would be flying off the shelves but no, they're not. It just reassures how overpriced this camera is.
This $3500 selling price is just a fiction Canon is trying to maintain, and at which they are failing. It's just like plugging both thumbs in the leaking wall, trying to hold back the flood.
The real selling price is somewhere between $2750 and $2800, at which there were high volume sales at eBay and Beach Camera, or $2900 on the FM buy and sell board.
When the inventory builds up too much, Canon dumps a bunch at the lower price, to relieve the inventory backlog, while still maintaining the fiction that it is a $3500 camera.
I just can't wait for Canon to try to sell a 46MP camera at $9,000! D800, here we come!

How is that surprising?
I believe that most people who want to splurge on a 2700-2900 canon body have already done so. This could also be a factor to the slow down in sales and not the $200 price difference.

+1: Couldn't agree more. I am just wondering where the Canon police is here now in this forum....only a short time ago, this kind of posts were someone stated that the 5D III is overpriced were slammed by a hord of fanboys. Now....they are quiet...so far.

I don't know, I still know tons of people on the sidelines waiting for the price to drop on the 5DIII, most of which received the ebay/beach notification and didn't pull the trigger on it because the price is still too high.

Someone should do some internet sleuthing to find out why these deals are happening ONLY on ebay, and only with certain authorized dealers.
Such discounts are not appearing anywhere else, including the same dealers on their main websites.
Whether you can believe it or not, the most common story is that Ebay is offering an incentive to the dealers doing this, for a pre-arranged number of bodies each time. Supposedly this was leaked by someone at Beach camera, and was relayed by some one's brother in law's ex-sisters former roomate to the guy who cuts the hair of a guy on the forum. (if this were canon rumors, we'd have to rate it CR0).
But, that would explain a few things. First, it would go to only the bigger Ebay stores most likely, which Beach and Adorama are. Second it would explain why the sale isn't good on their websites. Incidentally it would also seem to indicate Canon doesn't have much, if anything to do with it.

Paypal seems to be the problem.
I believe Paypal is the culprit. This unusual high charge triggers their fraud alert. You can try to call Paypal and your credit card while working on the payment.
