Lucky you, Karl. That's a sweet walk you have available to you, nice variety of subjects. #5 (amazing detail) and 7 (sweet pose and lovely image) are my picks here. I'm enjoying your productivity with the 500
Jim
A little luck is always a nice treat Jim. Thanks much and it is nice to be shooting the '5' again, it has many benefits for the places I shoot.
Take care
Karl
You might not have gotten the woodies you wanted but you sure did come back with a good variety. Sometimes it's not what we went out for it's what we came back with.
Lucky you on the Coop giving you a shout. I like the second of him the best, nice sharp eye and the blurry stuff is less distracting.
Fine job on the deer duo, the second is blurry enough but not too blurry so that one works out to be a fine comp. 1/50th, not bad son!!!
RTH flyer is a nice sharp shot, the one on the ground may have too much stuff in the foreground but that is a matter of taste. Fine job focusing through all that!
I would be hanging out at that berry bush!! It seems to be a popular spot Cool to see the blues of a Bluebird this time of year. I like seeing the two little ones on the berries, wonderful context and comps on those. I'm going to bust you buddy, you missed the focus on the last one, my eye keeps getting drawn the birds back that is nice and sharp
Really nice set Karl, I had to nit a bit but you know.......
The Cooper was a total suprise and would have gone unseen if not for a call out
1/50 surprised me, if not at 3200 it would have even been better, honestly didn't even see the back one til I put the shots on the computer
Flyer RTH was zipping back and forth, lucky to get him coming my way into the light! I kinda like the one in the woods
This 'corner' of the trail seems to be blessed with many many little birds, just need to keep the 'light' on to make it a good shooting spot, and yes I did miss the eye a wee bit, still honing skills and need to check MA on lens in case of...........
loving the rth flight shot karl. man, when you get the focus right where you want it the images that you get are really sharp. i also like the last shot. i think it is either a fall plumaged blackpoll or bay-breasted warbler. if not one of those then its a pine warbler. its definitely one of those 3 and they can be really tough in the fall.
A very productive outing Karl with lots of variety.
You are on a voyage of discovery too I think and getting to grips and coming to terms with your new glass.
The standouts for me here are the RTH IF although it was a pity he was not giving you better eye contact but then its a silly one you said, and the last two where all the nice foliage colors add a lot to the shots, even if the pin point eye focus was slightly off in the last one.
Am sure you and the 500 will come to mutual understanding and be a great team in the future.
For me I will probably sell mine as I have hardly used it this last year and prefer the 400 F5.6 for its lightness and fast focusing.
Cheers,
Martin

Looks like a walk worth taking.
Beautiful pair of images of that Cooper's buddy... is he winking at you in #1
Those two deer sure are giving you their full attention... that shaft of sunlight adds even more beauty to this peaceful scene.
Nice IF pose for the entertaining juvi RTH... and love the blue sky.
The last two are wonderfully composed and my favorites of the mix... beautiful.
I'm really lovin' you and that killer setup buddy... keep 'em coming.
Kirk
Sorry you didn't get any Woodies... but there's always next time.
Sorry for late reply, still loooking for my Woodies I know a hotspot now and will get them soon!
Silly Cooper giving me the 'crazy eye' Thanks on the pair buddy....
There are soooooooo many deer this year, offspring count is enormous and that is not good here.
I almost left in the upper left top corner an extension of the landing perch to break up that stupid blue sky
Thanks on the little bird Kirk............

The RTH flyer is a beaut and cool to see this one on the ground doing what those juvi's do
Leaving all the sticks and flora MAKES the shot for #3, wonderful image Karl.
Your little ones are fantastic as always and I'm enjoying that BB on that interesting perch
You are rollin now with that Pati-glass bro, bring it on my friend

Howdy Tom........glad I have some hawks to delight you
Fun to watch the juvi dive off into the wood line then march around, silly kids
You know me and sticks and flora........
Still amazes me how little they are even through the 500 but they are a fun challenge!
