Weather was iffy, early sun then more and more overcast but got a few looks before it went dull. The early morning treat called me to turn and look as I was quietly sneaking around a pond in hopes of getting some Wood ducks on take off, I think Conrad's old glass knows how to find birds So it was a good morning Cooper who called out to greet me!
A short walk through the woods in very low light I saw 10-15 deer many of which were still bedded down and one got my attention and thought I would give my hand held abilities a try with IS..........not a bad whisker count for 1/50th @ 500mm, this lens is only as good as I and I need to get better yet
Silly juvi RTH was flying about, I have heard not much a hunter yet, we watched him fly down into the woods on the ground Seems he/she is a bit confused on what to eat and where to find it
Little peeps and Autumn color make for fun, thanks for looking and comments and crits are always encouraged here.

Looks like a walk worth taking.
Beautiful pair of images of that Cooper's buddy... is he winking at you in #1
Those two deer sure are giving you their full attention... that shaft of sunlight adds even more beauty to this peaceful scene.
Nice IF pose for the entertaining juvi RTH... and love the blue sky.
The last two are wonderfully composed and my favorites of the mix... beautiful.
I'm really lovin' you and that killer setup buddy... keep 'em coming.
Kirk
Sorry you didn't get any Woodies... but there's always next time.
You might not have gotten the woodies you wanted but you sure did come back with a good variety. Sometimes it's not what we went out for it's what we came back with.
Lucky you on the Coop giving you a shout. I like the second of him the best, nice sharp eye and the blurry stuff is less distracting.
Fine job on the deer duo, the second is blurry enough but not too blurry so that one works out to be a fine comp. 1/50th, not bad son!!!
RTH flyer is a nice sharp shot, the one on the ground may have too much stuff in the foreground but that is a matter of taste. Fine job focusing through all that!
I would be hanging out at that berry bush!! It seems to be a popular spot Cool to see the blues of a Bluebird this time of year. I like seeing the two little ones on the berries, wonderful context and comps on those. I'm going to bust you buddy, you missed the focus on the last one, my eye keeps getting drawn the birds back that is nice and sharp
Really nice set Karl, I had to nit a bit but you know.......
Lucky you, Karl. That's a sweet walk you have available to you, nice variety of subjects. #5 (amazing detail) and 7 (sweet pose and lovely image) are my picks here. I'm enjoying your productivity with the 500
Karl- what an enjoyable outing that must have been.
And with some excellent takes, also.
#1- is that a trick of the light? A blink? Or is the bird's left eye clouded over? For a hawk that could be life-threatening.
