I passed by this great piece of engineering. Build by Heerema one of the biggest companys in the offshore industry. The light was not great and the angle difficult because there were gates and I couldn't get nearer.
There is another picture of this construction in the HD images thread showing the height of it.

Have you guys been using ETTR with the DPxM? It would be cool to share camera settings (ie. sharpness, color, contrast, metering mode etc) that make the histogram more in line with what you can expect from the actual raw file exposure.
Do you guys just use spot metering at the important highlights then set exposure compensation to +2 or thereabout?

What is ETTR? To many abbreviations these days.
It has been said all in the beginning of this thread.
I use spotmetering and expose for the shadows. In SPP the exposure compensation depends on the image, white balance point control (trial and error), and the X3 fill light slider.
No extra sharpening, preferable -1 and no exxtra contrast. All pretty straightforward actually.
To get the colours right is the most important thing.
After that export TIFF and use ACR/lightroom for further adjustments.
There is no straight cure to do things, it all depends on the image and trust your eyes.

It means expose to the right. It's the idea of making use of the fact that digital sensors capture more data in the brighter areas of the image (the horizontal axis of the histogram is in logarithmic scale), trying to expose the image as much as possible without blowing the highlights to get the maximum amount of data in the raw file.
