I now have the DP2 Merrill and fired off my first couple of test shots tonight. Problem is, I get a processing error when loading the X3F files in Sigma Photo Pro. I can't see what I am doing wrong - I am pretty useless with computers though (BTW I am running windows 7 if anyone has any tips).
From what I can see, at 100% the jpegs look great. Looking forward to working from the raw files.
Okay, I figured it out. I installed an older an older version of SPP before. My mistake....
For what it's worth, I really like the DP2 Merrill. It's pretty much exactly what I was looking for. Amazing detail from such a small camera.

The third party DB-65 replacement batteries I purchased will not work in the Sigma's without modification. Have you actually tried these? If they indeed work, it would be interesting to figure out which third party brands do work without modification.
Tariq yes this does work. I tried before I bought.

Great thread with lots of useful info! Not to mention the images
I just got the DP2 and downloaded the Sigma software (5.3) which worked except when trying to correct red/green fringing. Then the screen went milky white and the program crashed.
After installing the latest version just now, I can't open a single X3F file without crashing the software! I can, howerver open TIFF files and adjust them. I have restarted the PC as per Sigma's instructions.
Any advice?

I would first try to remove the Library/Applications Support for the program and try again (clean registry on Windows). If that doesn't work, try completely deleting the program and reinstalling. It sounds like something got corrupted with the first crash.

Hi Carsten, thanks. I'm afraid I don't know how to do that, could you please give me some pionters?
I have already deleted and reinstalled the software with the same results. Pity I removed the previous version.

Are you on Mac or Windows?
If you are on a Mac, open a Finder window and browse to your home folder (Arne, or whatever your user name is). Then, holding down Alt, open the Go menu and choose Library. Then open the Application Support folder, and look for the Sigma folders. Check inside that there doesn't appear to be any important personal data (there shouldn't be), and nuke them.
On Windows, click the Start button, and in the command line field at the bottom, type regedit, and press Enter. In the Registry Editor, find the LMCU (going from memory here, as I use Mac. Local Machine, Current User or something) folder and open it. Inside I think there is a Software folder, and inside there probably the Sigma folders. Select and delete.
This should nuke any stored settings for these applications, unless they put them in highly unorthodox places, and thus let you do a truly clean reinstall.

Thank you Carsten, I'm on a PC and I can't even find the Registry Editor after typing regedit, so this seems like a long uphill struggle..
Which of course begs the question, why make such a buggy software in the first place? Is Sigma this incompetent that a perfectly normal download (x2) simply doesn't work unless going through all sorts of illogical loops?
Secondly, does anyone still have the previous version to share? It seems at the moment to be my only way to convert RAW files from my DP2. Thanks in advance.
