Actual prices of 6D low down already 1 month now after sales started.
Here in germany the camera is already available between 1859 and 1929 (MSPR is 1999) including tax even at reputable dealers. This looks like street price, not special offers for a short time. I guess it is caused by Nikons collaps of prices:
D600 is easyly available for 1579, D800 at 2249 (both at amazon.de) including the german tax (19%).
There are still lots of new 5D IIs offered, starting around 1650 and reaching up to 1872. At amazon the actual offer (third party) of 5D II is only 47 cheaper than 6D.
I would like to know what the offers in your country are.
When it first launched it was around £1799, the UK is widely known as rip off Britain, everything is so much more expensive over here
I like the 6D though, it's bigger and heavier than my 550D and that has taken some getting use to, I had another play with the wifi at the weekend... and wow that's easy to use, it works very well; the menu system (while different from my previous canons) is easy to navigate too!
I'm looking forward to getting so files into LR and seeing how far I can push them... unfortunately the poor weather is stopping me from getting out at the moment, I'll post some shots soon.
1999 body only at B&H and Amazon today.
I got mine at ebay from Samy's last month. $2699 for the kit with an extra Canon LP-E6 and SanDisk Extreme Pro 32GB plus $100 ebay bucks. The new 24-105 was a little better than my current one, so I sold the used lens for $750 and ended up with a new lens.
Ralph, MSRP = Manufactured Suggested Retail Price, in the US it is $2099.00, a nation wide retail electronics store 'Best Buy' has advertised the 6D at $1899, but there is a post here on FM that said a local Best Buy honored a verified eBbay price of $1839.00.
Canon has refurbished 5D3's for $2800, non-in-stock at the moment tho. At Canon's webstore, pricing is absolutely nuts, for body only, before xmas and after xmas refurb pricing is below, amazon's pricing as of this morning follows refurb pricing
- refurb 5D2 $1402/$1760, amazon new $1799, $2399 w/24-105L IS
- refurb 7D $1019/$1280, amazon new $1199
- refurb 60D $699/$799, amazon new $699
Amazon has the 6D at $1999 today, 6D w/24-105L IS $2699
IMHO we won't see any huge price drops until Summer, some small changes perhaps but nothing like $500 or more...or not until the next new body is announced and that could be September
There was nothing of huge interest for us Canon DSLR folks at CES...
Thank you too, nalax and stilly . Are those prices end prices? Taxfree or tax included?
The best offer with kit I saw here was 2.597,99 (3450,75$ !). Tax included (19%). No "extras".

NO, the above pricing is before tax and shipping...taxes are extra and are determined by State law, shipping costs are controlled by seller/shipper.
If you are an Amazon Prime member, the pricing above includes FREE 2 day shipping within the US, taxes may still apply depending on your State laws; California does require Amazon and other retailers to collect taxes as of late last year.

It doesn't include taxes, which vary from state to state and even city to city. (And some states, such as Oregon, have no sales tax at all; only income taxes, etc.)
Thanx Brian. If I substract our taxes the price here would be 2900$. Again body and lens, no extras or ebay bucks (whatever this is). In germany the tax is same wherever you live and there is no sale without.

Yeah, it's one of the more-confusing aspects of the USA's monetary system for the uninitiated.
Most states have a base sales tax percentage, and local governments can add on to that for voter-approved measures such as mass transit, sports complexes, etc.
My state (Washington) has no state income tax, whereas Oregon has income taxes but not sales taxes. California has both kinds.
Washingtonians who live near the Oregon border often do much of their shopping in Oregon, although they are supposed to pay taxes on most types of cross-border purchases (but most people don't).
While the tax discussion is captivating I just wanted to update the battery issue that I had with my 6D and charger.
B&H replaced my 2011 LP-E6 with a 2012/09 LP-E6 and it now charges and operates as expected. So, either I got a bad battery that wouldn't charge, or there's some firmware update that prevented it with the 2011 one.
I'm still waiting on my grip replacement, which didn't work with my good LP-E6 or AA batteries. Felt good though...looking forward to using it once it comes back.

Yeah I've struggled with the tax system on goods when I've shopped in America... when I first went to the States I couldn't believe how cheap things were; then I found out that the tax gets added till
So If I am in New York and want to buy D6 + 24-105 kit for $ 2499 at 42photo. How much do I have to pay in reality?
Or my friend who lives in Massachusetts?
I am puzzled...
Sales Tax
Sales tax (8.875%) will only apply if you take possession of the merchandise in person or by mail within New York State. If you have the merchandise shipped to any other state outside of New York or outside of the United States of America you will not be assessed New York State Taxes.

Yep, that's it. Some states have proposed taxing goods shipped out of state, Internet sales, etc. as a way of bolstering their coffers, but so far New York hasn't done that.
When I was selling high-end watches a few years ago here in Washington State, we had a lot of Canadian shoppers at my shop, and if they even showed us a Canadian ID we weren't supposed to charge the tax. It's the same principle.
Are there any mayor problems because of the missing joystick?
Does it feel like a big hint. Or is/was it easy for you to get along with the new multi-wheel?
I've never owned a camera with the joystick so I can't say that I miss it, however I've used the 7D and I liked using the jostick.
What I don't like about the 6D is the directional pad, it feels flimsy and isn't very tactile, it would have been great if they had of swapped the pad for the joystick!!
The weather is so poor over here at the moment and it's limiting the opportunities to get out and use my new toy in anger
