THe big question is...what is the price point of the M-E and the new Leica M Both being full frame....
Ok, so in summary, the M-E is still a full frame rangefinder like an M9, but with 18MP, other than that anything different or lacking that the M9 has? Looks almost identical to the M9. Same crappy screen as the M9 lol.
I wonder why they called the M jsut that instead of M10? Other than 24MP and the ability to add an electronic viewfinder and do video, what's the advantage of the M? M has 920k screen with gorilla glass.
If your estimates are close to actual price it's reasonable to assume that used M9 prices are going to take a pretty big hit. If the M-E is as similar to the M9 as it appears and it's $5,000 then clean used M9's should drop under $4,000 pretty quickly once the M-E becomes available. I've seen M9's going for around $4500 prior to this announcement and this should put some downward pressure on the used M9 prices.

So now Leica finally has a live view camera. I like that a digital M now can be used with any focal length, at any focus distance (think close up adapters), thanks to the EVF.
But I don't think I can see myself spending whatever they are asking for this camera to gain access to a rangefinder focus mechanism, not when other full frame cameras are bound to spawn off the Sony RX1 at 1/3 or less.
Still, this is the first time a digital M body has appealed to me, thanks to live view et al.
If they priced the M at $4,000 I'd buy one now though.
