All shot with the D800 and natural light. Part of my family was in Lake Tahoe for a week and since I am not taking on many clients these days I have not had the opportunity to work on my craft. I found a great location near where we were staying and took the kids out early one day. Wish the older kids were with us I would of loved to included them in these pictures.
Great pictures! Cute kids! The lighting is beautiful. I have been having a difficult time doing some group shots. In picture #4 of yours, I noticed the boy is a little ways away from the girls but still in focus. How did you get everyone in focus? Where did you put your focal point? Sorry, I am learning.

Thanks for the kind words. In picture 4 I was far enough away from my subjects that at f3.2 the subjects would all be sharp yet the background would be blurred. The background blur was also assisted be the distance the children were to it. A couple things to consider when you want a nice background with sharp in focus subjects. Distance to subjects, subject distance to background, aperarure, and focal length. The change in combination of any of these 4 things can yield different results.

Really Nice shots. Looks like you were dealing with close to midday sun, but you knew how to work with that lighting to make some beautiful shots!
The sun was high and harsh I looked for locations where the trees would act as a screen and cut down on some of the light. It worked pretty well however 2 hours earlier and the sun would of been perfect.
