Honestly the Sigma SD1 makes so much more sense than this piece of crap. I was actually excited, hoping for some kind of entry-level medium format mirrorless. Oh well.

The photography business is a funny cow. I think this just shows how disconnected companies like Hasselblad are with actual photographers.
This isn't true in general though. Their medium format system isn't the sort of camera which inspires love, but it is the best of the current options, with a tilt-shift adapter, a great wide angle lens, leaf shutters, and a complete lens lineup. All the needed accessories are there, the software works well, it tethers well, everything is well thought out and aimed squarely at high-end pros in fashion and still photography.
This camera is nuts though. I swear this is the idea of a businessman who is really good with money and managed to get high up inside Hasselblad, and then suddenly and tragically mistakenly thought that he was brilliant. This is the idea of someone who really has no bloody idea what photographers want or need. I cannot imagine anyone who would want to buy a NEX-7 for $4000 extra, just to get the wood, that shape and the H.

On behalf of the Swedish citizens, i sincerely apologize for this creation.
This smells more like something out of Hong Kong, to be honest, the location of Hasselblad's previous owners Shriro, but now they are owned by Swiss investment bankers? I can imagine that there will be a few boutique customers and collectors who would buy it, but nothing more. I doubt anyone will ever see one of these on the street.

I am losing all respect for Hasselblad and Leica.
?? How did Leica lose their way into this sentence? They are doing really well and just released a kick-ass camera. They don't belong with this. You must be thinking of the Hermes days.
It looks like Hasselblad is trying to be Hermes-era Leica, but they are completely missing the point of the D-Lux series, where Leica adds something to the Panasonic bodies, and marks them up somewhat, but still keeps them *affordable*!
I don't see how Leica is trying to become Apple. Leica is steeped in simplicity and tradition. Apple is very modern.
Leica is clearly trying their best to follow the Apple script. Leica stores, secretive, built-up announcements and silly naming schemes (the next M will be the "New M" right?). Let's hope they can actually deliver the goods like Apple with great products that are glitch free and perfect! The M looks really nice and enticing.

Exactly, and apparently they are making a one-off M together with the guy who designed the iPhone.
Did Dr. Kaufman wear a black polo shirt and jeans?
I seem to recall someone at Leica on stage looking like they were trying to mimic Steve Jobs not too long ago. Perhaps it was a special event to announce their stores (which have clearly been influenced by Apple)?
!!!Unbelievable. This Apple lovefest by Leica thing almost deserves it's own thread. Just read that in fact Jony Ives of Apple is being hired by Leica to create a limited edition version of the M!!! How much more evidence do we need?
Would be nice if Leica would follow Apple further by releasing some premium products with a premium-but-not-quite-THAT-expensive price tag.... say a nice rangefinder for 3k or so.
