Lens size. Look at the Zeiss 24/1.8 for Nex, and then imagine a FF equivalent.

No, Sony didn't lie when they said that the E-mount was capable of using an FF sensor. They just happened to forget to tell you that everything you put on that camera (shorter than 50mm FL) will have to have about the same or only very subtly smaller retrofocal ratio as a lens planned for a full DSLR camera...
That means that IF the RX1 was released as an exchangeable lens camera, the 35F2.0 lens that is on the camera now would have to be planned as a retrofocal lens in stead. Think something about 1.5x larger in diameter and 1.5x longer than the existing 24/1.8 for APS. Slightly smaller than the 18-200, if you're going for image quality rather than compactness. If you're going for all out compactness, like the 50/1.8OSS - but a centimeter larger in diameter.
I think that kind of negates the "no-brainer with no disadvantages" statement.

OK, maybe it's too expensive for some. But you can't deny this is a ground breaking
camera, by far the most exciting thing in last few years.
This to me is as big as my first digital camera - Coolpix 990.
Compare this to all those boring "one more" Canons and Nikons. Seriously.
Not gonna mention Leica, but I agree with Huff, if they don't show something
SPECTACULAR in a couple of days, they will be trashed.

Does lens have filter thread? Otherwise 1/2000 wide open on bright day is way too long a shutter speed.
Looks damn nice, but being stuck at 35mm for every shot would get numbing for me. It's a lot of money for a a 1 trick pony. But I can see the appeal for a lot of people.

How it could be better? EVF built in! Now it seems you have to choose between using a finder and external flash. Canīt image to use the rear display while outside using the leaf shutter and synching studio strobes.

Did anybody see an image of the external EVF yet?
I don't imagine that this camera is really intended for a lot of strobe usage. If you're carrying strobes around, you may as well carry a larger dslr.
The external EVF is just like the Nex-5n's, but in black with a new connector. The nice thing about an external EVF is that the EVF can be upgraded over time, so it doesn't date the camera.

49mm, classic diameter.
A sobering thought:
-If they released an RX1-24, an RX1-35, an RX1-50 and an RX1-85 it would STILL be about 8-10 thousand dollars cheaper to buy all four cameras than to buy an M9 with the corresponding new-series summicrons.

Looked at the Leica Summi prices again. Change the "8-10k USD cheaper" I stated above to "15-17k USD cheaper"

Unless they decide to limit the usage of the updated EVF to their newest bodies. You can't just assume there will be backwards compatibility. Particularly not with Sony.

I'm just talking about potential, since the camera will likely have a long shelf life. Who knows? Also, the tilt feature is a big advantage to the bolt on EVF.
