So why don't you think you could learn how the RX1 meters?
Because, as mentioned, I'm looking through a glass hole with no indication of exposure settings . I think the question has now long been lost, so do not worry.
As Douglas mentions, pre-focus and pre-determined metering for snap on OVF's. I could do the former, would have to work on the latter for a LCD/OVF mix.

The good thing about EXMOR sensors is that pushing in the raw converter is often as good or better than actually raising ISO. If you just error on the side of underexposure a little bit, you'd probably be fine much of the time.

A good point. For street-snaps and similar I'd never be fussy on exact exposure anyway, so I'm probably being a little pedantic. But that is the exception, otherwise I'd like info in the VF.
If they could overlay info in the OVF like the X100 that would be something special... But... probably adding another big chunk to the price as well.
EDIT: Interesting comparison photo above. Anyone else thinking it might be too small to actually handle!?

Yeah, fortunately there is a rumored EVF, too, so that might be the better way to go.

More guesses concerning the button on the bottom of the lens... could be either the button that extends the collapsible lens for use () or the lens release button everyone was desperately searching for ().

Since the button is on the same ring as the focus range limiter, I think Dan1's guess of it being a lock for that ring is probably right, but we'll see.

Me too, but speculating is only fun until we know for sure, so I had to grab the opportunity.

I don't know, Tariq, I think the size looks about right, and the hotshoe is a good size indicator. It's essentially similar in size to the RX100 with the Sigma 30/2.8 grafted onto the front. Pretty incredible.

Pretty amazing if so. I'm sort of thinking it will be too small though and would have preferred a larger size for better handling (and an included finder!). I guess if it has a flip screen, it could be cradled in the left hand ala classic waist level finder. That's another reason it better have a flip up screen (which I'm doubtful of at the moment)!

Yep, this camera hinges (no pun intended) on having a flip screen, for me. It looks like it has notches at the top of the screen, like the NEX-5, so I'm hopeful.
EDIT: On second thought, those notches look like they may just be buttons above the screen. Uh oh.

You could always add one of those bolt-on third party grips that you see for the X100 and Leicas. Not sure how much difference that will make... but I do agree. I think Sony have tried to sell the "worlds smallest full-frame camera", and perhaps missed out on a couple of important things (built in VF, being able to handle it comfortably). But that may well work and sell well for them. And if there is a FF NEX, that point is useless.
Talking of which, is this kind of a catch 22 situation? If it doesn't sell well, they won't push forward a FF NEX and those that are waiting for a FF NEX will hold off buying the camera... who are probably the same people it's aimed at to start with. So, we have to buy it if we want them to release a FF NEX? ;-)

I've been saying this for a couple of years, but I'm really not sold on Sony bringing a FF NEX anytime soon. The entire NEX ecosystem is based around aps-c/Super35, so far, and they could have easily made a FF NEX with one available prime, rather than this RX1. Granted, there is a rumored FF NEX camcorder coming, so who knows??
