I think they meant "controlled" rather than deliberate. Would have been easier to say ...if you are a sports photographer and you buy this then you are a bloody idiot but somehow it doesnt seem like something Zeiss would say. Maybe I should apply as the Australian Marketing Manager and fix that.

Also the 50/1.4 although a nice lens, is one of the cheapest and weakest in the Zeiss lens lineup.
Having a higher performing 55/1.4 will now match the new 35/1.4, solidifying their portrait lend lineup.
85 might be next.

Cynic, lol, and I do so wish it was true.
I am guessing they mean deliberate as to an exact composition, really only doable on a tripod. But the language path is Zeiss > German > English...what can go wrong?
I thought that Sony had some type of exclusive agreement with Zeiss for autofocus lenses. If they're developing autofocus lenses for Fuji's X-mount, does that mean autofocus lenses might be coming for other mounts as well?
It will be a product family of its own. Three prime lenses are already in development: 2.8/12, 1.8/32 and 2.8/50 macro.
Coming Speing/Summer 2013. AF. Available for Sony NEX and Fuji X mount. Fuji X will also have a manual aperture ring.
These are aps-c only.
Wow - that certainly makes the Fuji X line a lot more interesting to me - that's for sure. Couple the Zeiss 3D pop/contrast with the Fuji sensor Color and resolution and I bet it will be a winner!

Maybe that was only for dslr?
That 2.8 12mm sounds mighty interesting. I bet it's going to be good on the nex7 since the xpro also suffers from the same wide angle rf problems.
This certainly makes the Fuji X system more alluring. It will be interesting to compare the 14mm Fuji lens to the 12mm Zeiss, different focal lengths but both super-wides.
I think Fuji has to help the software developers with the RAW files. If it wasn't for the problems with the RAW conversion I'd already have a Fuji X Pro1.
Wow, NEX went from not having any fast normalish primes to a whole bunch: the Sony 35/1.8 OSS, the Zeiss 32/1.8, the Schneider 35/1.4. That's not even counting this new Mitakon 35/0.95 or the SLR Magic 35/1.4. Somebody needs to do a lens test.
Finally some lenses to pair with my beloved ZA24. I'll be looking at the 12 and the 50 to start and I may add the 32 later.
Note that I wouldn't be surprised if these are Sony-manufactured. Zeiss has said they're made by one of their current partners in Japan and Cosina isn't exactly known for making AF lenses.
Quite frankly this looks a lot like a deal with Sony to get extra resources into the E mount lens design business. Sony isn't going to see X mount as any sort of threat and m43, which is a real competitor to E mount in the consumer marketplace, isn't getting these lenses.
And finally, this pretty much answers my concerns about E mount, mostly around what will match up well with my ZA24. If I've got a full lineup of Zeiss options, I'm all-in.

What Schneider 35/1.4? AFAIK the Xenon is going to be A mount not E mount (and there's also the 35G and Samyang 35/1.4 in A mount)

Same here. The 12 and the 50 will likely end up in my bag. At least they gave me a year's notice to save up.
