I'm with Sebboh, wish the 12 was somewhere in the 14-16 range. The 32/1.8 should make a nice normal, the 50 macro is potentially the most interesting to me. Wonder if it'll be a planar design...

The Fuji 14 is one of the big reasons I am probably moving over to that ecosystem.

Granted, you could just crop the Zeiss 12 on the NEX-7 a little when necessary, since the pixel count is so high. I'll probably go ahead and buy the Zeiss 12, even though I'd prefer a little longer.

Re: the new ZM -- There are more days to come, they are probably staggering their product line anouncements.

All three E-mount lenses are definitely interesting to me.

The 12/2.8 sounds great, if the corner-to-corner sharpness is good (even stopped down a bit), I will likely get one. Oh, and if it doesn't have color problems on the 7!! Or, if by then I've switched to a 6 or a 9 or some other Nex that doesn't have such issues to begin with. Unless it's FF, in which case, forget it.

The 32. . . if it's absolutely awesome, I could maybe see it replacing my 28/2.8 Elmarit and 35/1.2 Nokton. But it'd have to be damn good, including great manual-focus feel. The lack of aperture ring is a big strike against it, though.

I wish the macro was a 60mm. I don't know why they'd pick 50 for APS-C I can always hope that it's because they will indeed somehow support FF eventually, but that's pretty doubtful.

So, let me get this straight. Zeiss has been making ZA lenses for the Sony NEX system with Sony, and is now making lenses for the Sony NEX system without Sony. What does that say about the Sony-Zeiss relationship? Less solid than it was, or merely more open than we thought? Further, was Zeiss' plans for these new lenses the reason why we only got one Zeiss-Sony ZA lens so far for the NEX?

Well, I was also a little displeased with the pixel density on the NEX-7 - I never really felt that the added pixels really translated to any meaningful advantages over the 16 MP sensor, so that was another major complaint of mine... but yes, I could crop!

Yeah, to eek out the differences between 16mp and 24mp on aps-c, you really almost start getting into tripod territory.

I don't think it means very much. Both Zeiss and Sony have reaped benefits from the collaboration - Zeiss gained some market exposure and also some IP licensing fees on top of what they charged for the design consultations, and Sony incorporated some "branding" on their more up-market lens designs.

Sony is happy where they are, and Zeiss wants to expand their sales as a company in their own rights. I do think we'll see more ZA branded lenses, but bear in mind that Sony isn't exactly known to sprinkle their line-up with a huge new range of lenses every year...

i notice a nice improvement in tonality on downsized images versus my a55. detail is certainly improved with the same lenses too, but that isn't something you can see at normal viewing sizes.

The DR is better, that's for sure. The noisy skies (and noise in general) weren't welcome, but frankly those things are really only noticeable at large print sizes, which ironically should be a selling point of a 24 MP sensor.

The reality is Fuji has the lenses I want and the color out of the box Sony doesn't have. The Zeiss annoucement alllllmost makes me regret selling my NEX, but let's be honest, those Zeiss lenses aren't going to be priced to be competitive with native lenses. Zeiss knows they can charge a premium, and generally speaking, the results warrant it.

Well, the good thing is that you'll get those lenses with Fuji, too, should you change your mind. For me, the X-Trans sensor is a no go, and, since I shoot raw, the Fuji color is a non-issue, so that's why I wanted to wait until Photokina to see what NEX was doing.

I've not really noticed a noisy sky thing much. Granted, the NEX-7's metering is super conservative, so I shoot the camera pretty hot.

Have you noticed the prominent new position that Zeiss is giving Sony Nex on its product page?: http://lenses.zeiss.com/camera-lenses/carl-zeiss-camera-lenses/camera_lenses.html

yeah, the fuji lenses definitely look better than sony's, though we'll have to see how sony's 10-18mm and 35/1.8 turn out. it's the manual focus implimentation and size that have kept me away from fuji. maybe the xe-1 will be competitive with sony in those respects, but i have my doubts it will be any improvement over sony in those areas.
