I spent two days watching and photographing fishing Ospreys at the Rothiemurchus Estate Aviemore Scotland in July. Hides are right next to the water and the birds come very close. you can see many more of these images at the link below. Feedback is welcome. Regards Mike
Thanks for your kind comments. At Rothiemurchus the hides are right next to the water and a 200 or at most a 300 lens is perfect. A few of the shots on my website have a little cropping but the ospreys do really fish very close to the hides. I used a 400 DO at Rothiemurchus in May but stopped using it after only a few hours, the ospreys are just too close. Regards mike
Thanks for the feedback, at Rothiemurchus the ospreys really do come close as the lake is quite small. must be one of the best places anywhere to watch ospreys fishing. The only issue can be early morning light, I try to make a start at 04.30. I have loads more images on the link below. Regards Mike
Thanks David and Rick I appreciate your comments, but to be fair I have no great talent at photographing flying birds - the set up at Rothirmurchus does allow the use of smaller, easier to hand hold lenses as the ospreys do come so close. Regards Mike
