Totally. There is just no way that I could afford nor justify spending $10-12,000 for a Canon or Nikon equivalent lens ... and even if I could, I wouldn't want to deal with the heft and weight of these lenses. Besides, to use these humongous DSLR lenses you will need a gimbal head and heavy-duty tripod i.e. more dollars to spend! These two high-grade m43 super-telephoto lenses are totally hand-holdable and it will have a dual-IS feature ... so I am happy to cough up $2,500 for such an amazing lens although most m43 shooters are complaining that it's ridiculously expensive. Well, if you want something inexpensive you have the Oly 75-300 or Panny 100-300 lenses which will still do an okay job. You get what you pay for.

Nice to know about those...100-400mm (FF 200-800) will be interesting.
Thanks

Good news ... looks like Panasonic will price their 100-400 lens at just under €2,000 or USD2,200:

Thanks Cheese. Not a high rez shot. I had seen this old Buick the previous day and it had nagged me all night that I hadn't stopped for a few photos. So the next morning I pointed my motorcycle back west and rode the 70 miles from Cortez, CO to Bluff, UT and had a brief interlude with the old girl. Then I retraced my route back to Cortez to continue my trip through southern Colorado. I'm still working on the files, at least that's my intention, but I seem to be getting further behind.

I think he was referring to your Cedar Breaks National Monument image.

Why is a 7-image stitch/pano not a high-res image?

I understand your point, but I took Big Cheese question to be referring to the High Resolution function (40 meg).

Thanks, yes I was referring to the 40 mp hi Rez mode. I am curious as to how good it is for landscapes. This is the one area where I find m4/3 lacking - mainly when I want to print at around 1 meter wide.

Got my $99 Panasonic 25mm f/1.7. First impressions are it looks really good. Quite sharp across the frame at f/1.7 and very sharp across the frame at f/4. Have to be careful shooting near infinity, though...if you don't focus far enough, the corners and edges stay sharp, but the center is soft, which is odd....focus in the center and everything is sharp. In any case, things look pretty good. Bokeh looks pretty nice actually...better than most budget oriented lenses. I think I'll be quite pleased with it, but obviously I need to shoot a lot more with it. I've seen samples showing it flares like mad, so I'll definitely test that out.

Here are a few shots. All but the first are wide open.
