I stumbled upon this Glossy Ibis yesterday. It's a rather 'rara avis' here in So Cal. Probably on a migratory stop over. It didn't seem like much to look at in the distance but on closer inspection (on the screen, say) I was quite taken aback by the color of its feathers. So this bird made my what would have been a rather ho-hum day.

Peter, one question, here in SoCal our seasons are mostly summer
What shall I shoot for the fall and winter challenges/threads? Less crowded beaches, monster swells/waves at the Wedge or the winter nationals perhaps, do y'll like drag racing?
Yup, that sounds about right, Jerry.......when in SoCal, you do what you can.

Even though the weather has most definitely moved into autumnal fare here, I've actually got this week off which is the first this year so I'm seeing it as my summer holiday!

Temps in the low 80s (F) here, but there is a slight autumnal crispness in the air...maybe the humidity's finally dropping...
Here as my final seasonal floral, are some roadside morning glories in Kentucky, spotted on the drive home from taking my oldest back to college last weekend - now there's an indicator of the changing seasons...

Thanks, one and all...

Snopchenko: Your St. Petersburg images waxed nostalgic for me. I visited there some years ago after the facade of the whole city was being restored to its spendor.
