Ruhikant, even if you said you photographed that off a pod, I wouldn't have believed you.

A very pretty dove which I've never seen before. A very difficult target she must be and you got her good.

Here's my recent BIF with 1DMkIIN + 700mm (500 II + 1.4xTC III)........sometimes the lens we have on us is way too long.

Great close-up indeed...but you should have used the fish-eye to get the full frame image...ha...ha.

Good Morning!,

BCGuy: Beautiful image of Banff, and from a great vantage point!

ruhikant: Nice BIF...!

Peter: Damn, is that sharp or what? Perfect lock-on over the eye, even with old gears .

Some garden shots from early this morning with the manual focus FD 200mm f4 Macro - all at f11. This lens shows no focus shift from f4 to f11, then diffraction/shift is visible from f16 to f32, so f8-f11 is the "sweet spot". Not bad for a lens with a UD date code (1989)! No EXIF info from the lens; need to "chip" it.

Regards,

Edd

Tomatos/tomatoes are looking good Edd! I love a tomato sandwich, toasted with light butter and a whopping amount of fresh black pepper!

Here are a couple more from our long weekend camping trip; the first is a (too) long exposure that was highly experimental in nature. I applied a liberal amount of noise reduction to the original file but I took the image while brushing my teeth in the dark so I'm not unhappy with the result. On the other side of those trees is the lake so we had a great spot. On the other side of the lake you can see the glow from the lights of cottages and the nearby town.

The 2nd shot, yeah, I'm back to the dock again. But it was positioned so nicely against the sunset I couldn't stay away.

Hi Edd,

Wonderful ripe maters there, you're making the old glass look mighty fine
Seeing what a FF sensor can pull from that lens inspires, the frog is fantastic, a good bit of DOF there and the flower image, well gives me a huge smile as I absolutely love abstract shots of flora!

Seems I've some saving to do for either a 5D2 or 5D3, thanks for posting and thanks for finding the 200s sweet spots, I'll go there this weekend and see what my 50D can produce! Are you using Ed Mika's .5mm adapter or other?

Jerry

Aim high for the summer sky! As an homage to the Curiosity mission to Mars, I photographed a much earlier part of our space program. It's actually one of the first boosters used to launch sub-orbital flights. Alan Shepard rode atop one in the Mercury capsule. This retired rocket is not in Florida, nor California, not DC nor a Southwestern state.

I did not remove any fisheye distortion. You'll note that the central axis of the "bird" goes through a point not too far from the lens axis (i.e. the center of the photo).

Although NC is full of red clay, it is unusual to find a Redstone.

Nice dove, nice background, Jonathan. What gears did you use there ?

Here's something done with 1DX + 400 f/5.6. I have been trying to test the camera on fast approaching head-on shots, but without much success.....the pijuns have dispersed, and they do not follow any productive flight path. I may have to figure out some alternative way of doing it.

Here's a cicada, fallen from the trees and slow to recover...though he did fly away eventually...
'til then I was able to use my 100L Macro, tripod mounted.
