This is the second time I was able to spot some Nighthawks. Very interesting and striking birds with big eyes and short legs.
The male was so nice to put his courtship show up in front of me, flying high above the female and diving down like a rock and pull up just before hitting the ground creating a loud ZOOOOOMMMM! sound with the vibration of their wing feathers.
All very interesting!
C&C welcome

More top notch work Socrate!!! You managed to get some super backgrounds on some of these. No simple task with these guys. Great techs and craftsmanship all around. Really big congrats on the IFs
This is a truly remarkable post and a real testament to your skill. I remember you posting nighthawks before and I mentioned that they look like nightjars which are related I believe and closely related to owls. I don't think I've ever seen better...

I'll have to say my jaw dropped and a big smile took over when I saw these Socrate. This is like getting to see a bird that I know exists that I have always wanted to get to actually see in the real world. I'm going to be most content to simply enjoy your success and admire the incredible set you have here.........I think Mike's opening words sum it up for me too, 'some of the best' my friend, well seen and the IF's blow me away!
Wow, some really great shots. I hardly ever saw these guys during the daylight hours. And like you said, they don't fly straight for very long. . Very impressive!

Thank you, my friend, for the kind comments. They didn't seem to be bothered by me, so I was able to position my self IOT get some shots against a more colorful bg than the just the sky

Thanks Eric. You are right! They do look like Nightjars and I posted some pics of this bird, taken in Dauphin Island, AL, a couple of years ago. These were taken here in Pensacola at the beach.
