Excellent Socrate. Would love to be this close to this interesting and unusual bird but I have no idea where to look. I see them in the sky at dusk but they are so far away that I just watch them. These images are outstanding.

Thank you Alan. I was able to spot these because I heard the "peeeeeet" call of the male flying close were I was shooting some Ospreys. So I followed the male and saw the female on a tree nearby. They seem to like to perch on branches parallel to the ground. I later discovered their nest with the eggs. They actually don't build nest but lay two eggs on the ground. The eggs are about one inch big, so I was very careful where I was stepping so I wouldn't smash the eggs.

Awesome set Socrate. These are quite rare for me. I've only seen and photographed them twice and at the quarter mile marker for closeness. The flight shots are impressive, great detail in them. I like the sleepy mood in the perch shots too.

Thanks, Herb. I've seen these birds twice myself.
