Pondria? Whoa, a blast from the past. Where have you been? Still got that 1DsII?

[Edit: Hahahaha, I had only seen your first post, about the RX100 being out for delivery. Now I have seen the second one too ]

Yes, I do. It is still doing well and good enough. But I am getting tired of carrying it for travels. I found RX100 :-)

Ran around some bridges today.

Took it for a jog in a padded Sony case and just held it in my fist. Worked very well.

I may pick up a TG-1 or something just because I'm not sure if constant jogging is great for the camera. A rugged camera might fare better.

Thanks, I'm trying out overcooking images for this month and I'm not sure how I feel about it but will try it for a month. I really need RAW support.

They're very good. I forgot to ask before, how did the month of no cliches go?

I had to break it because I got a new lens and wanted to test the bokeh.

Ah, yes. I hadn't considered that temptation.

So, has anyone noticed the digi zoom feature being "stuck" on? Mine is and I have tried resetting the cam to no avail.

Thanks guys, I guess I'll keep at it with this style of post processing until the middle of next month.

@Jim: I used some presets that I tuned over a few times then saved them again as my own presets.

Using JPEGs though is really not great for heavy post work. Hurry up Adobe!

You should check out the OM-D ... it's a baby DSLR.

It certainly is, handles very much like a DSLR and nearly all the focal lengths are covered by it. Great camera, although much like a baby elephant is certainly smaller than a full grown elephant, its still going to take up a lot of room compared to smaller animals.

Again though, very nice camera, but its still like carrying a DSLR, just smaller/lighter but certainly not pocketable in the slightest.

Traveling with a EM-5 kit means a lighter bag and its like "hey, this is nice, my shoulder isn't as sore after walking with it for 6 hours" but going on a trip with the RX100 in your pocket is more of total revelation along the lines of "wow, I don't even know I'm carrying a camera with me, I've got both hands free, no shoulder bag or backpack getting in the way etc"

Its not that the RX100 is going to give better photos, make you a better photographer etc than using a m4/3 kit etc but it does give a different perspective on shooting, how you shoot, where you shoot etc and that can lead to better photos.

I used my EM-5 just like I was shooting a DSLR, only difference really was the size/weight, which can be rather priceless for sure, and got typically DSLR results. All well and good, but with the RX100 I'm taking a camera places I'd leave any DSLR at home, getting access to places that wouldn't allow me with a camera bag etc.

Its just opened up a bunch of new shooting possibilities and really given me hardly any tradeoffs for the way I shoot.

Don't need to sell your NEX, EM-5 etc like I did for the RX100, but I'd highly suggest checking one out as a supplement at the very least.

Forget about frame rate. How do you catch your subject in focus if it's not stationary?

Happy shooting,
Yakim.

You zone focus or shoot stationary subjects.

Surely you've seen wedding photos using manual focus cameras and big flash brackets before haven't you ? Been done this way for decades

Heck, how do you think people used to document sporting events and other action photography using the likes of a B&J 4x5 press camera ??

Its not Nikon D3s and I wouldn't want to cover a football game working that way but it was/is still able to achieve some great images with a different approach to shooting
