Sigma 50 for Canon.
- Needs: Fast normal
- Shortcomings: none, I loved it. Sold my 5D and got a NEX.
- Current lens: looking, would be lovely to have a fast autofocus normal for NEX maybe another Sigma?

Zeiss 35/2 ZF
– I wanted the best ever 35 mm lens for 24x36 and got it.
– No optical shortcomings that I care about, but it was large and heavy.
– I now use a Summicron 28/2 ASPH on APS-C which is a tad narrower.
I sold the ZF because I'm moving away from SLR:s to mirrorless and the lens doesn't make sense at all for that. It was one of my most used and loved lenses, but I've sold the D700 and now I use an NEX-5N, with small M lenses instead. It doesn't give me the same IQ, but it gives me waaaaay more freedom, which is more important.

I had the CY 85/2.8 Sonnar, which I always fancied for its small size and stopped-down sharpness. It also nicely filled a gap between 35-70 and 100-300 mm and is a nice portrait focal length. I also wanted to try it as a compact duo with 25+85.
In the end, after just a few weeks I had never really used it beyond boring test shots. I found myself switching between zooms rather than putting on the 85, and for any of the recent outings I could never force myself to use just the 25+85, so I guess I didn't really need a smaller, lighter kit.
I would really like to try a 85/1.4 for portraits and general low light stuff, which would offer something that my current lenses don't, and warrant taking it along in my kit.

Nikon Micro-Nikkor P.C Auto 55mm f3.5 Macro
I have too many lenses that I never use. I bought this one because it was cheap, but I didn't have time to try it. In fact I never once mounted the lens so I have no idea about shortcomings.
For macro, I have other lenses of longer focal lengths, which I prefer for macro.

I recently traded my v1 Elmarit-M 90 for an LTM Summitar 50/2 (better deal than it sounds- the Elmarit had some imperfections in the elements, the Summitar's squeaky clean). The Elmarit was just a placeholder until I found the pre-AA e55 Summicron for the right price.
The Summitar will probably be the next to go. It's sharp with great colors, but the bokeh is a bit busy and I'd rather use the Pen 60 for most subjects I'd shoot around that focal length. The Summitar's probably the better landscape lens, but an effective 75mm equivalent wouldn't be my choice for landscapes anyway.

Sold a Sony E 18-55 OSS yesterday, prior to that it was my SMC Takumar 28/3.5 and 35/2, sold to fund a Nikkor 28/3.5 AI. I'm actually selling off a large part of my collection in order to put together a solid little NEX system with a compact Nikon film system on the side. I'm still undecided if I'll keep any A mount bodies.
I've also sold off the following in the last few months:

I sold my Zeiss ZF 50/1.4 Planar recently. It's too difficult for me to achieve sharp focus at f=1.4. But the bokeh of the lens from f=2 to f=4 is beautiful.

Sold my 135L to fund my 100 Makro Planar ze. Before that I sold a Leica 60 macro elmarit that was my father's but he decided he needed to sell it and it was cine modded, so it was good to let it go with the rest of the set I sold a while ago... And before that I sold my 17 TS-E to buy a 200 1.8L

My Rokkor 58/1.2 - Wonderful lens but after I bought a VC35/1.2 and started shooting solely on the NEX system, the Rokkor just wasnt getting used as much. I kind of regret it now, probably pick one up again one day when the right chance comes along.

I had the Contax 90/2.8 on a 5N, couldn't stand the choppy focusing adapter, especially on such a long FL (maybe just unlucky, some people claim their's is smooth, or maybe they are just more tolerant).
I would like to try the Samyang 85, or the Sigma 85 - really loved the Sigma 50/1.4 (was MF'ing almost entirely), and sold it cause I found it too bulky. Gonna buy one back though for sure...

the metabones adapter works well. Expensive, but my sharpest and best 3d have come from the contact g90. I can buy the Leica 90mm elmarit-m latest for a good price, but I'm not sure its worth the difference

-It didn't measure up in IQ compared to my Minolta 35mm f/1.4 G RS
-I have my Zeiss 50/2 mp zf + leitax, but I want to switch to a Leica 60mm f/2.8 Macro Elmarit R
Minolta 20mm f/2.8
-Never was really impressed
-was one of my first primes after starting out with kit zooms, I wanted an upgrade in sharpness, contrast, colour, saturation and speed
-was better than the kit zoom, but never really shined.
-I'm currently loving my Rokinon 14mm f/2.8 ED AS IF UMC, cept for the focus ring calibration

oh, yeah. i traded one of my rokkor 58/1.2s to dale. it's one of my favorite lenses (possibly number 1), i just didn't need 2 copies in different mounts anymore since i'm abandoning sony alpha mount at least for the time being.
