I got mine from Allen's Camera Friday (when I went there, he said they still had maybe around 30+ available) and used it on an 8 hour event Saturday. Feels and works fine. It was hard getting used to the vertical joystick being in the "right" location but eventually I'll get there. The build is very solid. The base is "hefty and wide". The sideways pull out magazine was a bit strange at first but I'm getting used to it.
And, Allen's is only charging $329 + shipping for it...
3rd party grip for me. I've used OEM (5Dc) and 3rd Party (7D) and the 3rd Party is virtually perfect for 1/4 of the price...and you often get extra batteries with it!
I really dont like the bottom so wide, I wish it was narrower and be more lik epart of the body, like on 1D series, I did order mine anyway since it's hard to hand hold a body with heavier lenses without it, plus th evertical multi controller is helpful too
Thanks for the heads up on Allens Camera... I noticed they are cheaper as well ($329+shipping) for the grip... Came out to $339 for me, Adorama was $20 more to my door. Hope they ship tomorrow! I really want/need before my trip... I leave Friday!
Cancelled my preorder for Adorama I had since April. Hope it don't come back to bite me in the arse...
I have Canon grips for my Eos3 and 1V and they are substantial bits of engineering. I later bought a 10D with a Canon grip and it was ok but not the same quality. I later bought 40D s/h that came with a grip...I thought it was better than the 10D grip....seemed more solid.
I had the camera for some months before I realized it was a 3rd party product. So a thumbs up for the aftermarket grips from me......

Ok then some quick ones with the 85/1.2...
If I am not mistaken, he meant some pictures of your camera with the grip attached to it. You posted cute pictures alright but no matter how hard I tried I couldn't see the difference in the pictures taken with the camera with and without the grip attached .
