That is interesting. I don't find that to be the case. The highlight clipping on the D3200 (all settings equal with the D7k) seemed hotter and less recoverable than the same shot with the D7k.

I will try some with the same settings for shadow recovery too.

It is a good sensor, but needs some love to get it dialed in. Bit like the D700's do IMO.

If it can beat D800 in DX crop mode, that would be something. But, frankly, I never trust their numbers.

If you don't really need fast AF or FPS, it's hard to justify spending the money on anything more expensive than the D3200. That leaves more $$ for a great lens!

great images, I bought one to supplement my d7000 with the 50-300 ed vr lens. The thing would not do a sharp picture unless I manually focused. The store tech people confirmed it and said there was a problem with the camera or lens.

In any case, I will not ever consider a camera that does not have af lens adjustment as a feature again. The refunded my money and that was that.

Just my experience and 2 cents
