It's a nice little camera.

This is a untouched RAW file converted in ViewNX2 then cropped at 100%, no sharping. Looks pretty good to me. I'll have to try some high ISO soon.

Yeah it's a great little camera. I hope they put this sensor in a D300 style body (D400 maybe?)

These are good examples that excellent photos can be taken by entry level DSLRs.

All the entry level bodies apply low NR in camera for ISO 800 and up automatically even if NR is turned off in the menu.

Can anyone speak about the dynamic range and ability to lift shadows with the D3200? Are the 12-bit compressed NEFs disappointing in any way?

DR on the D3200 is better than the D700's but not quite up to the D7k IMO.
