Okay Hrannar, but if you decide for the 21 and can't find one locally, let me know; I am sure we can find some way to get it to Iceland without too much of a premium. For example, you could pay in two separate transactions, one of which is small and will be declared

Well, I found a 25/2.8 ZS mount in good as new condition with a focus confirm adapter here in Iceland for a little less than $600. :-D
Fired a few a shots on the way home after getting it and initial impression is very good. Seems somehow a misunderstood lens. The photozone does reveal some weaknesses at shorter distances but the lens is stellar closer to infinity, at least according to Lloyd Chambers (and my live-view). This probably helped me getting the lens for such a low price.
Anyways, I'm happy and can't wait getting out with it. ...now I just need a 58->72mm ring for my Lee adapter ring.

Looks like the OP found something that will work, but I would just like to throw in my opinion of the Contax 25/2.8 for prosperity. My feeling pretty much echoes that of jotdeh, it is nice compact wide angle, not stunning wide open but stopped down to f/5.6-f/8 it is pretty amazing IMO.
Due to it's compact size compared to my other wides I use for landscape type stuff (21mm & 35mm ZE, Contax 35-70) it usually gets tucked in my bag for excursions, and provides a nice option between 21 and 35mm.

ZE 25/2 is pretty terrific! Currently, I'm slightly preferring the Sigma Art 24/1.4 and appreciate its accurate AF. I have both these lenses at the moment, both bought used here on B&S.

I have the 2/28 already... my type of lanscape shot is with bokeh and subject infront. Not the usual infinity all sharp scenes.
I am asking because it’s on sale... instead of going for 2.8/21.

Okay guys... i got this 2/25 ZE I’m going to run it thru its paces this weekend. The shots will mostly have bokeh... not the typical all sharp scenes that most people do with wide angles.

For the sake of completeness, I will also note the C/Y 25/f2.8 lens is great for IR photography, as it isn't affected by a significant hotspot with either an APS-C or 24x36 sensor.

Bushwacker, did the lens come with a lens hood? I looked at this lens for quite a while before finally ordering it at the end of the promo (for $800). I see the lens is now priced at $1700! I'm really getting excited to receive it.

I got the lens for $799 in BH. Yes it comes with CZ metal hood. All of them ZE/ZF come with metal hoods. Not sure about ZMs
Watch for another round of Zeiss lens sale maybe on Christmas or New Year's

I purchased the 21mm new and it came with a hood (that doesn’t fit very well—hard to get on). The info on the BH website didn’t specify if the 25 came with a hood or not.

I can’t belive these japanese and germans doesn’t know how to measure things... I am sure that 21 hood you have will exactly fit 100% not loose and not tight it’s just right just like the rest. Unless you have an imitation or that hood got damaged.
Trust me... 2/25 just got it from bh it includes carl zeiss metal hood... it fits perfectly

The hood fits great reversed, but not forward. Zeiss sent me a new one that is almost exactly the same, but just slightly better facing forward. As I force it on (with use), it’s tending to improve, but I should take a very close look at both the lens and hood and see if I can figure out the problem.

maybe it's your lens? probably the slots are banged up? but there's no way for Zeiss to let that out., never.

I have original hoods on my half-dozen ZE lenses. They fit very well, after you turn them far enough to click into place.
The rotation directions are different for securing the hood for (i) shooting, and (ii) securing the hood backwards, over the lens. With the rear of the lens facing you; the top of the hoods rotates to the left when securing the lens in shooting position, and to the right when securing the hood backwards, over the lens.
