evfs are very helpful for focusing at f/1.2 since they show the real dof (unlike the vast majority of slr focus screens). i'm around 95% accuracy for non moving objects even without using focus magnification, but when shooting animals and kids running around all bets are off. seems whenever i start to press the shutter my kids will turn suddenly and do something like this: http://c2.staticflickr.com/2/1595/24504873752_b5e487082f_o.jpg http://c2.staticflickr.com/2/1671/23985074474_0a9d299a35_o.jpg
both with the pen f 42/1.2 incidently.
I finally got back into my Flickr account so I can hopefully show some pictures here directly (couldn't get that to work with Dropbox)
So here it goes, some animals @ f/1.2 with my Canon FD 55mm 1:1.2 S.S.C. Aspherical, all unedited ooc Jpg's (except for the automated resize + small sharpening after resize + watermark), with everything set to neutral on my Sony A7:

How do you like yours on the D800 Eike? I have not really had much of a chance to play with my girlfriends D800 and the 55mm f1,2 so I wonder about sharpness and veiling flare

Buddy, I really like it. It is one of my favorite lenses and works well with the D800.

Koen, lovely Tervueren you photographed there. How old is he/she?
Here is Lumi, taken with Nikon D3 and 55mm f1,2 Nikkor-S.C
Thanks solitaire, very nice picture and dog you got there as well!
Btw, I forgot to say this in my first post in this topic, but I really love this thread, so many wonderful pictures a true inspiration! And thanks for the likes everybody!
I can't tell you how old this dog is be course it's not mine and I didn't speak to the owner. I love dog's, but I don't have enough space in my appartement unfortunately..
I think it had some kind of hip operation be course it had a shaved backside: https://scontent-ams3-1.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-xap1/t31.0-8/12716203_10154007749038223_571652958462816075_o.jpg (if that works, that picture is on Facebook, but it was also taken with the 55 Asph wide open) Are you sure this is a Tervueren?
It was at an area near my town (Antwerp, Belgium) where you can let your dog(s) run free, on a nice sunny day it's packed with dogs and owners!
I was there with a friend who has a lovely black "Old German Shepherd Dog" (I don't know if this is the right translation, it's not exactly the same as 'normal' German Shepherd).
This is that dog, it had it's 8th birthday that day : https://flic.kr/p/FiFL7S (taken with FD 100mm 2.8 ssc so I can't show it here)
A few more wide open pictures with my Canon FD 55mm 1:1.2 S.S.C. ASPHERICAL, Some evening and night pictures this time, mostly unedited except for the second one in which I lifted the shadows a bit:
And finally one more daytime picture: I wonder if anyone can tell what car this is from just this close up (without looking at the other pictures in the album )
As for the car, shame on me! My favorite brand of car and I couldn't place the detail you photographed
I am quite positive that the dog you showed is a Tervueren or a mixed breed with a large pool of Tervueren genes. That old-german Shephard looks nice too. They are a bit more bulky then the Belgian shephards. Especially the two we have.
My girlfriend does most of the training with our two.
