I just love the slightly soft and dare I say '3D' rendering of this lens wide open. Tasty!
Despite the soft glow it is actually quite sharp even to the corners. Impressive.

thanks! geese are great practice for focusing. they move similarly to humans – bodies move slow but their heads can dart around quickly making narrow dof eye focus difficult. i've gotten used to the evf and my lenses now so i almost never miss unless the subject changes direction of movement as i'm hitting the shutter. that gave me about 70% hits on the geese this shoot. the coots were more difficult because i was going for a low angle to the water which meant i needed to use the lcd and peaking which is less accurate (the coots also move more and faster). only got about 50% hits on them.
