p.1 #1 · Just got a Canon 5d Markii for a CRAZY price!
So, I go to school the other day to work on some projects. Of course I have to go on facebook and get that out of my system beforehand. I log on and see that a local camera shop just got a lot of used canon gear in. One of the things is a gently used 5d mark ii that they were selling for $1600! Actuations are under 10k and besides a little scuff on the head of the camera it is in perfect condition. The box it came in was a little beat up, I'm super anal about my boxes of all my camera things but I checked out the camera and it seems like it is perfect fine. It looks like it has a little bit of dust in the sensor so might have to run it to Canon but I am extremely surprised that this came up. I even used the broke college kid card and got it for $1550 flat. I was actually in the market for a wider lens but always told myself if I got a great deal to finally go FF I would jump on it.

Yeah 1200 would be pretty much amazing.
No, this place is Cardinal Camera. They actually had it in Landsdale and the guy drove it up to Saucon Valley for me since it was right next to my school.

Yeah but with CL there's always that possibility of getting sexually assaulted.
You meet at a public place, like a Starbucks. Pretty well minimizes the chance of bad things happening. I buy and sell on CL from time to time, always meeting in a public place (assuming the widget being bought/sold is movable). Never had a problem.
I sold my 5d2 last week on CL for $1600 (essentially perfect condition; 10,000 actuations). I strongly suspect that the price will be dropping for a few months.

Plus ripoffs on CL.
List a diamond, they come to the house, steal it, beat up the seller. Could happen with a camera.
Unlikely, but CL is a lot of work with idiots and bogus calls working schemes, etc.
What I like about CL is that I can actually hold and try out the equipment before handing over the cash. Much better than e-bay or some other B&S boards where you buy blind.
If you go after the once in a lifetime deal on CL...yes you'll get burned.

I got a nice deal theoretically (will see when they arrive) on a 1Ds II and 5D2 for under $3k, but I may have to sell one as soon as I get it because I might not be able to afford to keep them both. Burnt flash units, web hosting and phone bills came at the worst time, plus other expenses I didn't plan on.
