I could hear the IS at a level louder than normal on my 200mm f/2.0 lens, not during the operation of the IS but when the IS gets deactivated. I think the IS of my 800mm behaves even weirder, I could see the image as jittery in the viewfinder although the actual image taken with it seems to be fine both using the 200 and 800mm lenses.
I got the feeling that those lenses will have to be sent in to Canon to make the adjustment rather than a fix in the form of a firmware update of the 5D Mark III. I am hoping for the best but prepared for the worst.

Is the issue with AI Servo mode only or any focus mode?

That would not be hilarious. Then again, being optimistic - there was an IS sound issue with a previous camera before, and also was fixed in firmware... so there's hope.
OK. My 5D III was shipped from Adorama on Friday the 6th right before they closed.
I got it yesterday and tested it this morning briefly with the 200L.
To my relief, I did not hear the "clicking" noise people are talking about. I just heard the normal gyroscope sound from IS. I put the lens on my 7D and the noise was the same with no "clicking".
Again, this was a very quick test but I did NOT hear any "clicking" sounds. Perhaps I got a newer batch of 5D III's?
Tried using AI Servo mode and it was slightly louder but no clicking. The focus wasn't as clear as One stop though. Not too happy about that.
I never found AI Servo to be as clear as One Shot on my 5D2, using any lens. In fact, I found AI Servo to be more or less useless. On the 5D2, the only workable setting was center point, One Shot. YMMV.
