These tiny ducklings were about the size of mom's head. Watching them scurry around, swim and bathe was a joy on a very present morning at Kissena Park in New York City. It was interesting to discover that 3 moms grouped there chicks and then took terns watching them while the other two swam around and I assume that was for a break. I took the photos sitting on the bank behind the rod iron fence I've mentioned before. I hand held my camera at ground level and used the LCD flipped up at 45 degrees to compose. Having become used to shooting between the bars made it less of a challenge. At one point the ducklings wondered up the bank and I was surrounded by them with some as close as one foot. Clearly this was too close to focus so I just sat there and smiled.
