I purchased it as new a few days ago and will be using it of course until it's sold - so please take your time! Needless to say the lens is and will be in new condition on delivery.
This is the ultimate in Long Working Distance (LWD) macro lenses and additionally produces images out to infinity which are simply unmatched in terms of clarity, sharpness, and color. As an apochromatic design the lens produces virtually no CA at all. In my testings so far this is the best lens ever!
Includes everything it came with new. Lens, front cap, rear cap, metal square hood, hood cap, box, warrantee card, and all original packing materials.
I was recently asked how much it would cost and what it would take to convert this lens to a Nikon F mount. While Canon, Sony and etc. can be used with just a simple adapter ring Nikon requires a conversion. Here’s the reply I wrote to the inquirer:
The ring you need is around the 60 euro mark. There are two different models. It looks to me like the Lanthar accepts the standard model only the screws are in the wrong place. So the most difficult part of the adaptation would be drilling the new holes into the laitax ring. This needs a drill press to do right. A drill press can be had for about $60 or less. I got mine for $50 but mine came with a work vice like this or you can get a cross slide type for a little more. A cross slide type will make it a little more fun to line stuff up but both are equally as easy to use - actually the type I have is a little easier for me than the cross-slide type. You'll also need the proper sized drill bit and a counter sync bit for about $3 ~ $5 each. Here's what the basic steps would look like:
1) Order all your parts and tools
2) Practice using your new tools a little doing similar things as described below but on some junk metal.
3) Remove the mount facing from the Lanthar (just 3 screws)
4) Line up the original mount with the leitax replacement.
5) Use a fine tip rapidograph pen to mark the new holes through the original mount.
6) Use a sharp counter punch to gently nitch the pen markings. Not too hard. You only need a fine little indentation to center the bit.
7) Place the leitax ring on the work table of the press.
8) Bring your bit down and center it into the nitch.
9) Lock down your work with the press table-vice.
10) Drill the hole
11) Change bits to the counter-sync bit without moving the work and counter sync the hole.
12) Repeat steps 8 through 11 for the other two holes.
13) Use the original Lanthar screws and secure the leitax mount in place.
13a) If the original screws are too long grind off the extra 1.5mm with a bench grinder and refit.
14) Optionally fill in the old holes with JB-Weld making sure to wipe any excess off the mount surface.
15) Mount the lens and take awesome photographs with your new lens knowing you just saved yourself about $1,100 over the nikkor model.
