We have been having fairly severe weather here in Switzerland for the last week or so with winds coming down from Siberia whipping water off lake Geneva and turning it into ice.
Today the sun came out for a while and for the first time in a couple of weeks I grabbed my gear and headed down the park wearing about 5 layers to keep the wind and cold out.
The birds have been finding it tough in this weather but the good folk of Geneva have been putting up feeder bags for them to get some food. There are many such sites in the park and the birds are feeding there in a frenzy. If they were not there, many of the smaller birds would not make it through the winter. So I decided I would put in the unmentionable, pics with birds at the feeders.
Winter has not made much of an appearance here. I have been reading that it has been brutal in Europe. Your images of the snow and ice are wonderful and the little ones enjoying the suet add some very welcome color.

Much worse than I can remember Eric and I have a good 60 years behind me now although most of it outside Switzerland.

Great ice and Blue Tit shots, Martin. That looks colder than Ottawa, which is colder than here.
Boy, Federer and Wawrinka certainly bombed out, didn't they? I am not expecting Canada to overcome the 2-1 lead by France in today's matches.
Tony
It sure feels colder than Ottawa with the wind Tony.
It was a bit of a flop all right and it may be an uphill struggle for Canada to win against France now.
But there is always hope

Wow, the ice sculptures are awesome Martin. That is cold!
Great captures of the wee birds too, well done.
David
There probably are better ice sculptures around here David but I forgot to bring my spikes with me and the ground was fairly treacherous.
Not sure if they will be around for next weekend or at least I am hoping the weather improves and they will melt.
Thanks,
Martin
Wow, that ice is impressive. We've had a very mild winter, only two nights so far with temps below 10 degrees Farenheit. We got the cold and snow last winter -
